Lando Norris has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with McLaren in Formula One.

The deal will keep Norris, 21, partnered with Daniel Ricciardo in 2022. McLaren is hoping to use next season's radical shake-up of the aerodynamic design rules to return to the front of the grid.

Norris scored his second F1 career podium at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and has been one of the standout performers of the season so far. He is driving in his third Formula One season with the team.

Ahead of this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren has confirmed his form has been rewarded with a new deal.

Norris said McLaren's continued resurgence in form convinced him it was the right deal for his future.

Norris wrote on Instagram: "My goal is to win races and world championships and over the last three years McLaren have shon me that they're able to build a car for me to do that in.

"I had my first podium with McLaren and I'll have my first win with McLaren. Let's continue what we started."

McLaren says the deal signals its "commitment to stability for the future and represents a further step in the team's long-term plan to compete at the front of the field."

McLaren CEO Zak Brown said: "I'm delighted with the extension of our agreement with Lando for 2022 and beyond. He's been instrumental in our return of form here at McLaren and we're proud of the growth he's shown since he first started with us back in 2017.

"Lando is one of the brightest talents on the Formula 1 grid and we look forward to seeing him continue to go from strength-to-strength both on and off track."
